What is Chantix?

Chantix must be prescribed by the doctors to ensure appropriate result because it has side effect. So it’s called as prescription medicine for smoking cessation.

How it’s works

Chantix works after taken into the mouth and digested in stomach,  through blood circulation it reach the nicotine receptors in the brain and attaches in the receptors. The it will block nicotine to reach the receptors, when someone smoking. Then chantix starts to trigger the receptors to send command to the other parts of the brain to produce little dopamine which produces pleasure feeling just for a while. While nicotine produce a lot dopamine and produce more pleasure.

Rule to take Chantix

Recomended 12-Week (three month) Prescription:

  1. CHANTIX should be taken after eating and with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.
  2. A 12-week CHANTIX prescription includes 1 Starting Month PAK and 2 Continuing Month PAKS.
  3. Within each one-month PAK are 4 Weekly doses of CHANTIX.

The first week:

  1. In the first week of CHANTIX, white pills are taken.
  2. During days 1-3, take 1 white pill every day in the morning.
  3. During days 4-7, take 2 white pills every day. One in the morning and one in the evening.

The remaining weeks:

  1. During weeks 2-12, take 2 blue pills every day. One in the morning and one in the evening.
  2. Remember, you should always take CHANTIX as prescribed by your doctor.

Side effects

Here are the most common side effects of CHANTIX include:

  • nausea (30%)
  • sleep problems (trouble sleeping, or vivid, unusual, or strange dreams)
  • constipation
  • gas
  • vomiting
  • others side effect maybe occur.

Caution

  • Drugs for over 18 years person
  • Do not use chantix if you are using another stop smoking medication
  • Watch out when you driving or operating machinery
  • You may need a lower dose of CHANTIX if you have kidney problems or get dialysis.
  • If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you take insulin, asthma medicines, or blood thinners tell your doctors first
  • If either you, your family, or caregiver notice agitation, depressed mood, or changes in behavior that are not typical for you, or if you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor

How to stop smoking using chantix

  1. Choose a Quit Date. Your Quit Date is the day you stop smoking completely. It should be on your 8th day of taking CHANTIX.
  2. Start taking CHANTIX one week before your Quit Date. This allows CHANTIX time to build up in your body.
  3. You may smoke during your first week on CHANTIX, but you should stop smoking completely on your Quit Date - day 8 of your treatment.
  4. CHANTIX should be taken after eating and with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.
  5. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s close to the time of your next dose, wait. Then just take your next regular dose.
  6. If you slip up and smoke while taking CHANTIX, don’t give up. Keep trying to quit and keep taking CHANTIX. Some people need a few weeks for it to work best. In studies, some people who smoked after their Quit Date were able to quit successfully.
  7. The urge to smoke and withdrawal symptoms may be strongest in the first few weeks after you quit smoking. CHANTIX can help reduce the urge to smoke, so keep taking it as prescribed. And try to avoid situations that may tempt you to smoke during your first weeks of quitting.
  8. When you try to quit smoking, with or without CHANTIX, you may have symptoms that may be due to nicotine withdrawal, including urge to smoke, depressed mood, trouble sleeping, irritability, frustration, anger, feeling anxious, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, decreased heart rate, and increased appetite or weight gain.
